============================================================= How I Got Started Into The World of PlayKiSS Paper Doll Sets! ============================================================= It was back in 1995 when i started watching Sailor Moon on TV for the first time and like all of us fans out there, I got hooked on the show. I was on AOL,"America on line" internet provider back then. I got on the net and logged onto Altavista and Yahoo search engines to see what would happen if i search for the words "Sailor Moon" There was like 500 web pages back then and growing by the 100's each day. When on AltaVista Search, I was checking out all the neat web pages till i came across one website in Tokyo Japan. It's long gone now, but...This Japanese guy had what was known as KiSS. At the time i had Windows 3.1 with Netscape 2.0 (^_^)! and went, Hmmmm what's this? it was all in Japanese so i had to guess what the heck i was downloading anyway. I load it up and Hmmm, the darn thing say's "kiss.exe not found" Remeber, this web site i was getting files from was in Japanese and i had no clue as to what i was grabbing. So i download the "kiss.exe" file and ran it!. I then get a list of files with ".LZH" at the end and i click on one too see what it does. A nice pretty screen opens up, sort of like PlayFKiSS.EXE does and there was this Sailor Moon Doll looking right at me with nothing on, and a huge selection of clothes for her. Not sure what to do next, i started moving the mouse over to the clothes and then it hit me, it was a simple paper doll dress up game. I was in shock, but yet excited that i was dressing up Sailor Moon on my windows 3.1 Then it hit me again, i had to learn how to do this. I tried to e-mail the owner of that website to please teach me this and he would write back in Japanese. I didn't get anywhere fast. I searched for months on anything that explains how to create KiSS paper dolls and nothing. So i gave up and just enjoyed the little paper dolls i could find on the net. 2 years later (1997) i start finding more and more paper dolls popping up everywhere, including the U.S. I was so pissed off that no one would teach me the damn secret. Until one day, I found a link on Yahoo search that took me to a web page called "OtakuWorld KiSS Page" Ahhhh, it was like a dream come true. I found everything one could ever need in creating KiSS paper dolls. For a few years i tried to figure out how the CNF scripting worked and how do you get those clothes to pass over one another. I tried asking for help and no one would help anyway, it was like a huge secret once again. So i gave it up and never bothered with it for a few years until , "07/01/1999" I tried one last time to learn paper kiss doll creation if it killed me. I still couldn't get it till one Japanese guy who spoke English took the time teaching me over the email for a month on how CNF scripting works, and how to get those darn clothes to pass over one another like they do. A month later, i never heard from that Japanese guy ever again and his email was gone. After 2 months of designing and scripting, i finally released my first paper doll, this was in "09/09/1999" Tsukino Usagi's Adventure Play Set#1 From that point on, i got better at KiSS paper doll creating and as of this day forward, I've enjoyed this hobby ever since. This is why most programers out there that have been creating kiss dolls since years back always say, it's not for everyone. This is true, look at what i went through since 1995 (^_^)! Hope you enjoyed reading my little story on my adventures in learning KiSS Paper Doll writing.
